HCSS launches new drone-based analytics platform for contractors

HCSS, a provider of innovative software for the construction industry, has launched a new version of HCSS Aerial, a drone-based data analytics platform.

The upgraded version is the sixth major release of the software since the product was launched in March 2020 and incorporated direct customer feedback. The new version of HCSS Aerial contains design visualisation and digital inspection enhancements.

Features of the new HCSS Aerial:

  • Enhancements in design visualisation: The look and feel of the 2D designs on the models have been enhanced. HCSS Aerial now shows designs on the model as 2D clamped to the ground.
  • Enforced checkpoint marking: For improving accuracy reports, Ground Control Points cannot be set as a checkpoint if it is not marked on at least two different images.
  • Detection and validation of image duplication: The upload wizard now supports the generation of more accurate models by validating that the uploaded image set doesn't contain duplicates. This feature checks for duplicate image names and analyses location data and time of capture for better detection. The upload wizard also warns of images that do not have complete GPS information.
  • Auto-georeferencing supporting real-time kinematic (RTK) flights: HCSS Aerial's auto-georeferencing models now support RTK flights.
  • Hassle-free import and support of native design files: HCSS Aerial supports all major design file formats鈥擠WG, DGN, LandXML and DXF鈥攆or progress monitoring analytics and design overlay visualisation for quality assurance. With HCSS Aerial, contractors do not require CAD experts, conversion tools, or data quality checks.

HCSS Aerial is also planning to beta test a new feature for digital inspections and automated grade checking that converts 2D designs into digital data model objects, calculates grade checking reports, and automates progress monitoring.

This wholly-digital process reduces work significantly, prevents human errors, and ends the dependence of construction companies on various software tools to perform these frequent reports.
