About 400 comprehensive GIS-based maps prepares under PM GatiShakti

Minister of Commerce and Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food, and Public Distribution and Textiles, Piyush Goyal, told the media that about 400 comprehensive geographic information system (GIS)-based maps have already been prepared under PM GatiShakti National Master Plan.

The Minister stressed that the revolutionary PM GatiShakti initiative would help solve the infrastructure's haphazard development problem in the country and will assist to build a secure, scalable, sustainable, and collaborative approach toward infrastructure planning.

He was delivering the keynote address at the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) Ministerial Session ‘Seminar on Collaborative regulations: Co-creation and sharing of infrastructure and international regulators� roundtable on Collaborative regulations using RegTech and Technology platforms.

The Minister congratulated the TRAI for completing 25 years of service to the country as the nation celebrates Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.

Speaking of the remarkable progress made by the telecom sector in the last few years, mainly in bridging the digital divide, the Minister said that Information Technology and last-mile digital connectivity will have an impact on every sector and would be the foundation of the growth story of India in the years to come.

He said that Digital India would create the foundation for Atma Nirbhar Bharat.

The Minister talked of the significant role that digital connectivity had played in fighting the Covid-19 pandemic by allowing quick and easy access to health infrastructure and other support systems across the world.

Directing the giant strides that India has been taking in the Telecom and Digital Technologies field, Goyal said that the government had invested new energy into the telecom sector with the Panchamrit of Reach, Reform, Regulate, Respond and Revolutionise in the previous eight years.

Praising the regulators for creating and preserving a stable policy ecosystem, the Minister said that it had assisted protect both telecom firms and consumers.

The Minister said that the launch of Digital India and JAM Trinity was a watershed moment in the country's history, and it revolutionised the way public services were delivered to the citizens.

The One nation one ration card (ONORC) was one of the most revolutionary initiatives, the Minister said that the use of technology in Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY) had assured that the beneficiaries of the scheme could collect food grains at a time and place of their preference.
