ATDC and SECL Sign MoU to Train 400 Unemployed Youth

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed today between Apparel Training & Design Centre (ATDC), Gurugram, and South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL), a subsidiary of Coal India Limited (CIL), aimed at providing vocational training to underprivileged youth from economically weaker sections. The MoU was signed in the presence of Ms. Rupinder Brar, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Coal, and Ms. Santosh, DDG, Ministry of Coal, at Shastri Bhawan, New Delhi. 

Brar congratulated the SECL CSR team for proactively launching this initiative to uplift the community and empower youth with self-employment skills. 

Training details and funding 
The program, part of SECL's CSR initiatives, will train 400 candidates, with a total budget of Rs 31.2 million. The training will be provided through: 

  • 300 candidates will receive training in a non-residential self-employed tailor program across SECL's locations in Bishrampur, Sohagpur, and Korba. 
  • 100 candidates will participate in a fully residential program at ATDC's training center in Chhindwara, Madhya Pradesh, including free boarding and lodging. These candidates will be selected from areas within a 25-kilometer radius of SECL's establishments. 
The ceremony was attended by Shri Biranchi Das, Director (P), SECL; Shri Rakesh Vaid, Senior Vice Chairman, ATDC; Dr. Vijay Mathur, Director General and CEO, ATDC; and Shri Alok Kumar, GM (Civil/CSR), SECL, along with officials from both organisations. 

Under the guidance of the Minister of Coal, the initiative aims to empower underprivileged youth in coalfield regions, create employment opportunities, and contribute to India's vision of a Viksit Bharat.
