Centre approves grant for 28 food processing projects

On Saturday, the government stated that a grant of Rs 1.07 crore for implementing 28 food processing projects spread over 10 states had been approved, which is likely to generate jobs for nearly 10,000 people.

A decision was taken in the virtual meeting of the and was chaired by Narendra Singh Tomar, the Food Processing Industries Minister. Also attending the meeting was Junior Minister Rameswar Teli.

Under the (PMKSY), the committee considered the projects applied through a unit scheme of Creation and Expansion of Food Processing and Preservation Capacities (CEFPPC) for necessary grants-in-aid.

An official statement reported that supported with a grant of Rs 1.07 crore by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI), 28 projects with project costs of Rs 3.20 crore were approved by the IMAC under the CEFPPC Scheme.

It said that a grant of Rs 20.35 crore for had been approved from this. These projects are worth Rs 48.87 crore.

Spread across the states of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Uttar Pradesh, Assam, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttarakhand, and Tamil Nadu, these projects will create a processing capacity of 1,237 tonne daily. The statement added that these projects are likely to generate employment for 10,000 people.
