Goa Police Launch Tenant Verification Drive

Goa police initiated a tenant verification drive in North Goa focusing on verifying the credentials of around 40,000 tenants and house helpers in the district.
Superintendent of Police (SP) North Goa, Akshat Kaushal, announced that the initiative was implemented across all police stations in the region, with special camps set up in major market areas. 鈥淭hese verification camps aim to ensure 100% police verification of tenants, laborers, and house help,鈥� he stated.
Kaushal emphasized the importance of close coordination with market welfare associations to enhance public-police cooperation in high-traffic areas. As of September 28, 2024, 27,700 tenants and 11,068 house helpers have been verified.
The verification process includes checking if landlords conducted proper police checks, ensuring that rented premises are not used for illegal activities, and randomly reviewing tenants鈥� backgrounds for any antisocial elements.
In addition to the verification drive, Goa police have launched 鈥極peration Raakhan鈥� to monitor suspicious individuals and vehicles during late hours. Night patrolling will also take place from 11 PM to 5 AM, aiming to create a crime-free environment and boost public safety.
Recent incidents of housebreaking and other illegal activities at night have prompted this proactive approach. Notably, night patrols by Mapusa police helped solve a jewellery shop theft case and led to the arrest of the suspects.
