Gujarat CM Allocates Rs 7.10 Bn for Urban Public Services Development

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has announced the creation of new municipal corporations in Gujarat and allocated the necessary resources to ensure they begin their public service operations smoothly, as stated by the state government. The Chief Minister has approved a total of Rs 7.10 billion for development initiatives under the Swarnim Jayanti Mukhyamantri Saheri Vikas Yojana (SYMSVY). This includes Rs 2.08 billion to enhance administrative capabilities and infrastructure for six municipal corporations, enabling them to efficiently execute welfare projects for citizens.

The allocation includes Rs 10 crore for "city beautification" and sanitation in Anand Municipal Corporation, which will cover street lighting, waste management, urban beautification, and other activities. An additional Rs 10 crore has been earmarked for strengthening administrative capacities through the development of IT infrastructure, bringing the total approved for Anand to Rs 20 crore. Furthermore, Rs 25 crore has been allocated for a new Town Hall in Anand. CM Patel has also sanctioned Rs 12.20 crore for beautification and sanitation activities in Morbi Municipal Corporation, including infrastructure improvements such as divider construction, streetlight maintenance, and waste management.

In addition, Rs 55.80 crore has been approved to convert the open canal of the Machhu-2 Irrigation Scheme in Morbi into a concrete conduit, a major infrastructure project that will extend from Lilapar Chowkdi to the Kandla bypass. A total of Rs 10 crore has been allocated for administrative upgrades in Vapi, Navsari, and Gandhidham Municipal Corporations, with funds earmarked for equipment like computers, scanners, and office buildings. For Nadiad Municipal Corporation, Rs 1.89 crore has been designated for the construction of a new bus stand.
