Minister urges swift removal of obstacles in infrastructure projects

G R Anil, Food and Civil Supplies Minister, highlighted that numerous obstacles impede the initiation of large projects, emphasising the need to eliminate unnecessary protests and misinformation that hinder development. He made these remarks during the inauguration of the organising committee for the Pothencode-Mangalapuram road at the Pothencode panchayat office.
The minister expressed the goal of completing the road construction within five months, stating that its completion would resolve traffic issues in Pothencode. He also announced that the Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Mohammed Riyas would inaugurate the construction of the Pothencode-Mangalapuram road on December 5.
The 6.1 km stretch of the Pothencode-Mangalapuram road is estimated to cost Rs 570.28 million, with Rs 90.46 million allocated for land acquisition. Land measuring 66 cents is being acquired from 247 families for the project, and Rs 50.5 million has already been distributed to 132 families.
Regarding the Pazhakutty-Mangalapuram road, the minister stated that 80% of the first reach, the Pazhakutty-Mukkampalamoodu road, is complete, and survey procedures for the second reach, the Mukkampalamoodu-Pothencode road, are finalized. He noted that the inauguration of the construction of the third reach, the Pothencode-Mangalapuram road, is scheduled for December.
The total projected cost for constructing the Pazhakutty-Mangalapuram road is Rs 2 billion, with Rs 7 million already spent on maintaining the entire road.
