Modi transfers PMAY funds to beneficiaries.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi marked his birthday by transferring Rs 2,044 crore as the first instalment under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), directly benefiting over 5.11 lakh families in Chhattisgarh. This financial aid aims to support the construction of pucca houses for eligible beneficiaries. The funds were distributed as part of the "Mor Awas Mor Adhikar" (My House My Right) program, which took place in Raipur on Tuesday. Modi participated virtually, while Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and several cabinet ministers were present at the event.

During the program, Modi reiterated the government's commitment to improving the lives of the poor and marginalized communities. He emphasized that significant progress has been made over the past decade in achieving this goal, and initiatives like PMAY have played a crucial role in ensuring the provision of affordable housing.

At the event, more than 23,000 urban families were given the keys to their new homes, along with certificates of completion and religious materials. Chief Minister Sai highlighted the importance of addressing basic needs like food, clothing, and housing, noting that many citizens, even decades after independence, still lacked access to adequate housing. He praised the success of PMAY, stating that Chhattisgarh has received a substantial allocation of nearly 30% of the 32 lakh approved homes under the scheme.

Sai also stressed that the state government is dedicated to implementing the PMAY effectively. He warned against any negligence or misuse of funds, adding that strict action would be taken against district collectors if any irregularities are found. This move reinforces the government's focus on providing affordable housing and improving the standard of living for vulnerable populations across the country.
