PM Modi to lay foundation stone of multiple projects in Gujarat

On 20 August 2021, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of various development projects in Somnath, Gujarat, through virtual conferencing.

On Wednesday, the officials from the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) said that the Somnath Promenade, Somnath Exhibition Centre and reconstruction of the Old June temple in Somnath are included in the project inauguration.

He will even lay the foundation stone of the Shree Parvati temple during the inauguration ceremony.

The 1.48 km long Somnath Promenade, developed under the Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual Heritage Augmentmentation Drive (PRASHAD), had a total cost of more than Rs 47 crore.

ÑDz©ÌåÓý¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³ Minister Amit Shah, national president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and the trustee of SKT Welfare laid the foundation stone of Somnath Promenade in 2018. It has been built to prevent coast erosion along with pilgrim facilities.

The Somnath Exhibition Centre, developed under the premises of the Tourist Facilitation Centre to display the exhibits from dismantled parts and sculptures of the Old Somnath Temple, has Nagar style temple architecture.

As per a statement, the temple precinct reconstruction of the Old Somnath temple was completed by the Shree Somnath Trust with a total cost of Rs 3.5 crore.

This temple was built by Queen Ahilyabai when she found the old temple was in ruins, so the temple is also known as Ahilyabai Temple. The Old Juna temple has been holistically redeveloped for the pilgrim's safety, with augmented capacity, it said.

The estimated construction cost of Shree Parvati Temple is Rs 30 crore. Temples in Sompura Salats Style and the development of Garbha Griha and Nritya Mandap are also included in the project.
