Developed at a cost of Rs 17.14 billion, the IITGN project spans 747 acres and is strategically located near the intersection of the eastern and western dedicated freight corridors, with the Eastern Peripheral Expressway to the south and the Delhi-Howrah broad gauge railway line to the east. The integrated planning and coordinated implementation of infrastructure connectivity projects under PM-GatiShakti align with the Prime Minister's vision.

The officials emphasised the strategic location of IITGN, highlighting its unparalleled connectivity due to the presence of other infrastructure for multi-modal connectivity in the vicinity. As the Lok Sabha polls are anticipated in April-May, these projects are expected to bolster the ruling BJP's pro-development image, particularly in the politically significant state of Uttar Pradesh.

Notably, this section features a groundbreaking engineering accomplishment ? a one-kilometre-long double-line rail tunnel with high-rise electrification, the first of its kind globally. This tunnel is specifically designed to facilitate the seamless operation of double-stack container trains.
