Zuari Bridge Towers to Boost Goa’s Tourism Appeal

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari laid the foundation stone for a new tourism project atop the Zuari Bridge in Goa twin observatory towers and viewing galleries worth Rs 2.70 billion. The initiative, unveiled at Chicalim Panchayat Hall, is expected to elevate Goa’s tourism landscape.

Gadkari suggested a local design competition for the towers, with a prize of Rs one–two million, and noted that the project would generate Goods and Services Tax revenue through ticket sales without burdening the State’s finances.

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant highlighted that Rs 330 billion has been invested in road infrastructure over the last 11 years. He also revealed a planned water taxi service from Pernem to Canacona to enhance regional connectivity.

The observatory towers, inspired by the Eiffel Tower, will each stand 125 metres high and include capsule lifts, a revolving restaurant, viewing decks, and other tourist amenities. Developed under the Design, Build, Finance, Operate, and Transfer (DBFOT) model, the concessionaire will manage operations for 50 years. The project also features a 7.5-metre-wide pedestrian bridge and parking at both ends. Construction is set to take five years.
