IndiGo Launches Daily Flights from Chennai to Jaffna, Sri Lanka

Domestic carrier IndiGo commenced its daily flight services to Jaffna in Sri Lanka from Chennai. Jaffna is now the airline's second destination in Sri Lanka, following the capital city Colombo, and represents IndiGo's 34th international destination.

IndiGo announced that the new daily direct flights from Chennai to Jaffna reduce the travel time to 75 minutes.

The airline operates over 2,000 flights to 122 destinations worldwide, including both domestic and international routes.

IndiGo indicated that this strategic route between Chennai and Jaffna would bolster cultural and trade relations between India and Sri Lanka. This cooperation spans various fields, including commerce, infrastructure development, and air connectivity.

Vinay Malhotra, the head of Global Sales at IndiGo, mentioned that the new daily direct flights offer a significant enhancement to trade and tourism between the two nations. He noted that the flights promise a reduced travel time of just 75 minutes.

The airline also highlighted the strong demand for travel between Chennai and Jaffna, citing that over 21,000 passengers travelled the route in just nine months last year.
