53 road projects awarded in Naxal-hit areas

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has awarded 53 road projects totalling to Rs 1,615 crore in the Naxal-hit areas. Chattisgarh has received the largest number of works, involving 19 projects for 699 km amounting to Rs 839 crore.

The initiative is a part of the Centre鈥檚 scheme for the development of 1,202 km of national highways and 4,363 km of state roads to two-lane standards, at an estimated cost of Rs 7,300 crore, in the Left Wing Extremism (LWE) affected areas in 34 districts of eight states.
