Access to Qutub Minar to get easier with construction of an elevated road

In a bid to decongest the roads near Qutub Minar, the Delhi Government is planning to construct a long elevated road that stretches across 2 km and connects Chhattarpur’s 100 feet road to the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU).

Reportedly, the move was a result of a review meeting held earlier this month by Public Works Department Minister Satyendar Jain.

The road will not only reduce congestion but will also help in diverting traffic going towards the monument and Gurgaon. At present, visitors have to pass through Qutub Minar and Saket metro station while travelling from Chhattarpur to IGNOU, and the other way around. Post the construction of this elevation, travellers will be able to avoid this stretch. The project is, however, only in the initial planning stages. A budget will be allocated prior to an assessment report being submitted by the panel, as reported.

Among other roadway projects in the capital, the Rao Tula Ram (RTR) flyover was also recently inaugurated. It converges out of the Munirka flyover and ends before the Army Research and Referral Hospital in Delhi, near Subroto Park that is close to NH-8.
