RBDCK to build four-lane road in Kerala

The second phase of the Airport-Seaport Road project will begin in Kerala with the Roads and Bridges Development Corporation of Kerala (RBDCK) planning to build a four-lane road from HMT Junction up to the airport covering a distance of around 15 km.

The existing 13 km portion begins at Irumpanam and ends at HMT Junction. The existing two-lane stretch from Irumpanam to HMT Junction will be widened into four lanes using state government funds. Around 100 hectare would be acquired for the four-lane extension, which would run parallel to NH-47 in some places and land at the highway's east. Two bridges would be built in the initial phase across the river Periyar.
