Arunachal's Vijaynagar to have road connectivity soon

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu, during a visit to remote Vijaynagar, had guaranteed the implementation of road connectivity by March 2022.

Vijaynagar is yet to have a proper road link, and people have to walk for days to reach Miao town. Since the declaration of the CM, there is a buzz and belief among the people that ultimately road connectivity will reach Vijaynagar.

On Saturday, Governor BD Mishra visited the Miao-Vijaynagar road to acquire firsthand knowledge of the work progress. The governor showed serious concern over the slow progress of the 157-km-long Miao-Vijaynagar road construction.

The governor additionally pointed out various loopholes in the development of the road, including poor drainage work and non-construction of causeways and culverts over the running streams and dry channels, among others.

The road development being undertaken near state capital Itanagar requires strict vigilance. Coming back to Miao-Vijaynagar road, it is surprising that the RWD, which is the implementing agency, is failing to maintain standards and deadlines despite pressure from the state government to complete the work on time. This road project is being personally watched by CM Pema Khandu and Governor BD Mishra themselves. Despite it, the RWD is failing to maintain quality, and the work is additionally progressing slowly. The state government should take a step against officers who jeopardise the quality of work while developing road projects in the state.
