Azadika Amrit Mahotsav: BRO celebrates 75th year of independence

The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) is conducting a motorcycle expedition in Northeast India to celebrate the 75th year of India's independence and as a part of the overall Azadika Amrit Mahotsav celebrations of the Indian government.

The expedition was flagged at Guwahati in the presence of Addl DGBR (East) PKH Singh. The motorcycle expedition also coincides with the 61st Raising Day of BRO.

The organisation is conducting the expedition to spread awareness about Covid-19 and safety measures to be adopted by everyone, and to connect with the people of the Northeast.

In light of the present situation of the Covid-19 pandemic and lockdowns imposed in many states of the northeast, the motorcycle expedition has been planned to be conducted in respective Project AoR (Areas of Responsibility).

A team of 44 officers and personnel of BRO riding 25 motorcycles travelled a cumulative distance of approximately 6,800 km in the seven project AoRs, said ADGBR (East) PKH Singh.

During the expedition, the expedition teams interacted with the former servicemen and former General Reserve Engineer Force (GREF) persons, organised small medical camps at various remote places, created road-safety awareness among people by using posters, leaflets and banners.
