Bihar Advances Rural Connectivity with Rs 172.66 Bn Road Projects

The Bihar government has approved a budget of Rs 17,266 crore to strengthen rural road infrastructure across the state. The initiative focuses on constructing and maintaining 11,251 roads spanning 19,876 km over a seven-year period. A total of 37 rural works division projects have been sanctioned under this scheme to enhance connectivity in various districts.
Madhubani will receive the highest number of roads, with 706 new roads covering a total of 1,237 km at an estimated cost of Rs 12.21 billion. Aurangabad will have the longest road network, extending 1,252 km through 576 roads, with an allocated budget of Rs 11.25 billione. Gaya is set to develop 629 roads covering 1,241 km, with 9.36 billion earmarked for the project.
Other key allocations include Muzaffarpur, which will see the construction of 614 roads spanning 993 km at a cost of Rs 7.33 billion. Vaishali is set to develop 244 roads covering 360.28 km, with an investment of Rs 30.43 billion. Gopalganj will witness the construction of 284 roads stretching 629.87 km, with a significant budget of Rs 54.66 billion.
Sheikhpura has been allotted Rs 11.68 billion for 115 roads covering 166.41 km, while Rohtas will benefit from 349 roads extending 851.47 km, with a total investment of Rs 78.43 billion. This large-scale infrastructure development is expected to improve rural connectivity, boost economic activities, and enhance accessibility across Bihar.
