BMC prepares DPR for repairing damaged roads

Multiple DPRs to be prepared step-by-step for repairing roads under BMC jurisdiction

The Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has begun preparing a Detailed Project Report (DPR) to repair damaged roads in areas under its jurisdiction in Salt Lake and Rajarhat. The work will be done in phases as multiple DPRs will be prepared step-by-step. Sources suggest that roads in Salt Lake, which come under BMC jurisdiction, were in a deplorable state, and due to the pandemic, repair work had not been carried out for quite some time, worsening the condition of the roads.

The BMC had recently requested funds from the Municipal Affairs department for road repair, but was asked to prepare a DPR for road repair and submit it to the department for approval before the funds were sanctioned. The BMC has decided to make multiple DPRs so that the work can be done step-by-step.

According to Deputy Mayor of BMC, Anita Mondal, who is also the Member Mayor-in-Council (MMiC) of PWD, the work will be done in phases, and the repair of the roads will be completed before the rainy season starts from June-July. Currently, some roads in Salt Lake and Rajarhat have already been repaired, but the entire work will be completed after the funds are sanctioned.
