BMC to redevelop and beautify Saat Rasta in central Mumbai

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's (BMC) G (South) ward has taken up a project to re-develop and beautify the largest traffic island on Saat Rasta in central Mumbai to make the area more attractive and pedestrian-friendly.

All 24 wards have been asked to beautify major footpaths, traffic islands, and open spaces under the flyovers under Mumbai civic body's overall project.

Assistant Municipal Commissioner of G (south) ward, Sharad Ughade, told the media that the entire beautification project is designed by a team of architects of Rachna Sansad, while the work will be implemented by G (south) ward.

The 'Saat Rasta Circle' is one of the largest junctions in the city, in Worli, where seven roads intersect. The idea is to beautify the area while retaining its original identity. To make the junction more pedestrian-friendly the G (South) ward has now undertaken the beautification project.

Ughade further added that the project is estimated to cost around Rs 80 lakh to the civic coffers while the BMC is trying to complete the beautification by October 2021.

The civic body's plan to beautify traffic islands and footpaths across the city will cost around Rs 200 crore for this project and the project is estimated to be accomplished by December 2021.
