Gadkari launches green hydrogen-based FCEV Toyota Mirai

Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari have launched the most advanced technology in the world - a developed green hydrogen Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle (FCEV), Toyota Mirai at New Delhi with the Union Ministers Hardeep Puri, RK Singh, and Mahendra Nath Pandey.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor Limited MD Masakazu Yoshimura, TKM Limited VC Vikram Kirloskar, and officials were also present.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor Private Limited and International Center for Automotive Technology (ICAT) are currently conducting a Pilot Project to understand and evaluate the most advanced Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle (FCEV) in the world- Toyota Mirai, running on hydrogen, given the condition of Indian roads and climatic conditions. This is a unique project in the country which is aiming to create a Green Hydrogen-based ecosystem in India by raising awareness regarding the unique utility of Green Hydrogen and FCEV technology.

This is an important initiative that will be helpful for the promotion of clean energy and environmental protection via reduction of dependence on fossil fuels and making India 'Energy Self-reliant' by 2047.

Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle (FCEV) which is powered by Hydrogen is among the best Zero Emission solutions available. It is entirely environment friendly having no tailpipe emissions apart from water.

Green Hydrogen can be created from renewable energy along with the abundantly available biomass. Introduction and adoption of technology to adapt to the Green hydrogen’s potential play a key role in the securitisation of a clean and affordable energy future for the country.
