Kalindi Kunj Road Set for Rs 278 Crore Expansion to Four Lanes

The Kalindi Kunj Road, a key route connecting Delhi, Noida, and Greater Noida, is set for a major upgrade. The Uttar Pradesh Irrigation Department has approved a Detailed Project Report (DPR) to transform the road into a four-lane highway. The project, which costs Rs 2.78 billion, aims to improve daily commutes for more than one lakh people and enhance regional connectivity.
The 20-kilometre stretch from Sahupura Chowk to Palla Bridge will be expanded, with the road eventually connecting to the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway at Kalindi Kunj. The project includes the construction of six flyovers at key junctions, such as IMT, Chandavali, Sector-8 Baroli, BPTP, Khedi Cut, and Palla, to streamline traffic flow.
Alongside the new road, a 20-kilometre pedestrian and cycling track will be developed, featuring a 1.5-metre divider in the middle. The project also includes a three-metre-wide cycling track, a 1.80-metre-wide sidewalk, and a green belt along one side. Streetlights and tree plantations will be added to improve safety and aesthetics.
Once both the Uttar Pradesh Irrigation Department and the Faridabad Metropolitan Development Authority sign a memorandum of understanding, the tender process for construction will begin. Former Chief Minister Manohar Lal had announced the four-lane expansion in September 2023, and construction is expected to start soon.
The road鈥檚 expansion will also connect Sahupura to the highway leading to Noida International Airport, reducing travel time to this key transportation hub. Currently, traffic congestion makes the journey between Delhi and Greater Noida time-consuming, despite the completion of the Badarpur Bridge. The Surajkund route, often used as an alternative, is considered dangerous due to frequent accidents and robberies.
This project aims to provide much-needed relief to commuters and improve transportation infrastructure in the region.
