Land acquisition begins for Aurangabad-Pune expressway

Land acquisition notification 3 (A) has been issued for the construction of a new Aurangabad-Pune expressway, which will shorten the drive to two and a half hours. Acquisition needs to be done from seven villages in Aurangabad tehsil and 17 villages in Paithan tehsil. The 3(A) notification contains land acquisition information, road distance and names of villages. The greenfield route is proposed under Bharatmala Phase-II.

Land acquisition will have to be done in three districts. Acquisition will be done from Pune in the first phase. The route will pass through Ahmednagar and Aurangabad districts, and the responsibility of land acquisition will be on the competent authority. Deputy collector Prabhoday Mule has released the notification. Notification of land acquisition has been issued and will be completed in two tehsils.

The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) will build the new expressway at a cost of approximately Rs 100 billion. The alignment from Beed in Ahmednagar to Paithan has been finalised. The vehicles will be able to travel at a speed of 140 km per hour on this route.

MSRDC officials held a meeting regarding the land acquisition process today, with employees of NHAI, TLR, and the district administration attending.
