Lucknow is set to implement its first-ever grid road system as part of the expansive 2,858-acre IT City township planned between Sultanpur Road and Kisan Path. The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) will commence construction in July, laying the foundation for a modern and efficient transport network across ten designated sectors of the township.The grid road layout will include roads of 45, 30, 24, and 18 metres in width, intersecting at right angles to create a rectangular pattern that enhances navigability and infrastructure efficiency. LDA vice-chairman Prathamesh Kumar has directed the chief engineer, Navneet Sharma, to initiate work as per the approved layout.The project is gaining traction under the land pooling model, with 39 landowners from five villages voluntarily offering over 185.95 acres of land free of cost. On Thursday, two individuals from a private firm transferred 50,167 sq m of land in Mohari Khurd by signing an agreement deed.To support land aggregation, a dedicated site office has been set up in Mohari Khurd. Two naib tehsildars, two amins, two lekhpals, and additional staff are engaging with farmers to accelerate agreements and streamline mobilisation.The IT City project will offer around 5,000 residential plots ranging from 72 to 200 sq m, along with larger plots designated for group housing. Additionally, the plan includes 445.65 acres for industrial use and 260 acres earmarked for commercial development.鈥淭his scheme is designed to attract maximum private investment,鈥� said Prathamesh Kumar. 鈥淚t will stimulate economic activity and generate employment opportunities.鈥漈he master plan also features a 200-acre golf city and a 15-acre water body to promote green, eco-friendly development and improve the quality of urban life.LDA joint secretary Sushil Pratap Singh confirmed positive engagement from other participating villages, which include Bakkas, Sonai Kanjehra, Sikandarpur Amoliya, Siddhpura, Parehta, Pahadnagar Tikaria, Rakibabad, Mohari Khurd, Khujauli, and Bhatwara in the Mohanlalganj tehsil.With infrastructure works beginning and increasing cooperation from landowners, the IT City project is emerging as a major urban development zone that is expected to catalyse investment and employment in Uttar Pradesh鈥檚 capital.
