MoRTH sets 12,200-km highway building target for �22-23

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has set a target of constructing 12,200 km National Highways during 2022-23, of which 4,766 km had been constructed till November, 2022.

Under Bharatmala Pariyojana, apart from highways and expressways, 35 Multi Modal Logistics Parks (MMLPs) are to be developed, which would act as cargo consolidation and distribution hubs.

Under Bharatmala Pariyojana, 191 points of congestion were identified, and de-congestion projects have already been completed in 56 such choke points, while projects are under implementation in 83 points. The work on remaining 52 congestions points will be awarded by FY 2024-25.

No proposal has been approved so far to securitise NHs and expressways.
