MSRDC set up land authority for Samruddhi Mahamarg route

The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation Limited (MSRDC) has launched a dedicated land authority to plan the development of land parcels along the Samruddhi Mahamarg.

An official said the dedicated land authority would make land reservations and be responsible for land pooling.

According to the official, a farmer may have 10 acres of land. But if an industrial parking space is to be developed, more land parcels will be needed. In such cases, the farmer may not be able to reach out to other farmers and get their agreement. So, the authority will take care of land pooling for that particular industry or the land parcel.

MSRDC, the project implementing body for the Samruddhi Mahamarg project, is still left to prepare a development plan for the land parcels aligned with the highway.

The official said the land development plan would only be executed after the highway is ready and opened to traffic and vehicular movement. Currently, the authority focuses on the completion of the highway project. The 700 km Samruddhi Mahamarg connecting Nagpur-Mumbai has missed its inauguration deadlines previously.

The authority had planned to inaugurate a 200 km corridor for traffic movement between Nagpur-Shelu Bazaar in Washim in May. But the plan was shifted further.
