New highway construction in India at 40 km per day in 2021

New highway construction in India has been recorded at 40 km per day in 2021, according to IANS-CVoter Issues That Dominated India 2021 Tracker. Construction work has continued despite the second wave of Covid-19.

Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari has aggressively worked towards creating new highway construction records in the country. When the late former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee had launched a project named the Golden Quadrilateral project for linking the four big cities of India with the help of new highways, he had faced much criticism.

Gadkari has been relentlessly pursuing the creation of world class highways in the country. The highway construction has continued even during the lockdown and Covid- 19 restrictions.

Gadkari mentioned that efforts were taken for sustaining the speed of highway constructions in these difficult times. Some of the steps taken include contractor support, simplified contract provisions, and services to the on-site workers.

Among the voters, on a scale of zero to ten, Nitin Gadkari is the only minister to consistently score more than six.
