NHAI to invest Rs 450 cr to upgrade Delhi-Jaipur highway by 2023

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has plans to spend about Rs 450 crore for infrastructure up-gradation of the Delhi-Jaipur highway by 2023 to improve traffic.

NHAI told the media that it has decided to develop four important flyovers, seven minor bridges, five roads over bridges, and 11 bus bays, among others.

Project director of NHAI, Manoj Arya said that the NHAI has already issued a tender for the infrastructure upgrade.

The closing date for tender submission is September 30. The highway work is expected to finish in one and half years, and it would hugely enhance traffic movement and prevent accidents, said Arya.

Presently Bilaspur, Dharuhera, Manesar, and Kapriwas, all in Haryana, are amongst the most congested and accident-prone areas on the highway, Arya said.

The development of elevated roads, roads over bridges, and underpasses will prevent accidents to a large extent, he said.

Union transport minister Nitin Gadkari said that to improve this road, the ministry had already passed various projects at Manesar, Bilaspur, and Kapriwas at Rs 250 crore. Apart from this, several other development works will be done by NHAI, he said.

At Dharuhera, a road project to bypass traffic has also been approved, and it will also reduce traffic distress at this location, said a senior NHAI official.

Union minister and Gurugram MP Rao Inderjit Singh said that this infrastructure upgrade was much required. These flyovers should come up fast.
