Protection wall to be constructed near Airoli Katai Naka hill by MMRDA

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) plans to construct a protective wall close to the Airoli Katai Naka hilltop in an effort to stop landslides during the monsoon. For the project, the agency engaged with IIT-Bombay. A brand-new elevated road that is now being built will go through the hillside. An estimated Rs 730 million would be spent to construct the reinforced cement concrete (RCC) wall. An official stated that the project is anticipated to be finished in nine months.

After a landslide in 2020, the authority had previously constructed a comparable retaining wall close to the Kandivali Bandongri hilltop. According to officials, construction on the Airoli Katai elevated road project is gradually nearing completion. The Mumbai Urban Transit Project includes it. The 12.3 km long elevated road project will be completed in three phases. Once ready, it will contribute to a 30-minute reduction in travel time between Katai Naka and Airoli. Mumbai residents who commute to Kalyan, Ambernath, and Badlapur will benefit.
