Use alternatives of steel & cement in road construction: Nitin Gadkari

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari announced that all efforts should be made to use alternatives to steel and cement in the construction of roads, construction costs must be lowered, and the quality must be enhanced in the road sector.

He emphasised the importance of proven technology, economic viability, raw material availability, and efficient marketing when he inaugurated the mobile cold mixer cum paver machine and the patch fill equipment for pothole repairs.

According to Gadkari, the system was hesitant to implement proven technologies for many reasons.

He said that implementing new systems and technologies needs full communication, coordination, and cooperation.

Jitendra Singh, Union Minister, said that the rising use of science and technology in the road transport and highways sector is adding enormous value to India's developmental path.

He said that the sector's use of economical, ecological, and recyclable technology was rapidly expanding India's artery network, highlighting that Science, Technology, and Innovation will define India's rise in the future decades.

Singh added that these are the perfect examples of Atmanirbhar Bharat as both the equipment are completely built indigenously, referring to the dedication of two types of equipment: a Mobile Cold Mixer Cum Paver for constructing blacktop layer using bitumen emulsion and a Patch Fill Machine for pothole repair to the nation.
