Work commences on 40-ft-high Wipro gate, smart CRORE

The Nabadiganta Industrial Township Authority (NDITA) has begun construction on a 40-foot-tall fence near the Wipro crossing in Sector V. The 40-foot-tall glass structure will include staircases and an elevator to a sky deck. There will also be a refreshment area on the deck.

The NDITA has also issued a construction order to transform the route that connects Nicco Park to Sector V Ring Road via the SDF building crossing into a smart street complete with bike tracks, smart bus stations, decorative street lights, water ATMs, and other street furniture.

According to NDITA authorities, moving the subterranean utilities required for the gate's construction took some time. “Piling work has started. The project is expected to be completed later this year, said an NDITA official. An architect engaged for the project said they would try to erect the gate by Durga Puja.

The project's design consultants are architects Ayan Roy and Soumyodeep Das, co-founders of architectural firm 'VBRIDGE,' who previously created the illusionary 3D art road railings in New Town. Its construction has been contracted out to a separate company.

The smart street is being built from the Salt Lake Bypass's Nicco Park crossing to the Ring Road behind the SDF headquarters. Bike lanes have already been installed on one side of the main thoroughfare, and they will be expanded. There are also plans to install bike stands similar to those found in New Town.
