The Varthur Tank Bund Road, which runs between Varthuru village and Ramagondanahalli near Whitefield Main Road, is projected to be completed in December 2022. According to BBMP Road Infrastructure officials in Mahadevpura Zone, the main stretch, which serves as a gateway to Varthur and Gunjur, was riddled with potholes and dust, creating a hazard to vehicles.
Residents had previously expressed their worries, requesting the Palike to repair the road, as the length has deteriorated over time, particularly during peak hours, but the combined project was delayed owing to the monsoon. Engineers are hoping that the project will be completed by December, with one side of the main roadway done and another in the works.
鈥淲e had first completed two bridges on the edge of Varthur Kodi at Ramagondanahalli and near the Varthur village entrance. After the main carriageway, BBMP will also put in place a service road. The total cost of the project is Rs 360 million, and by January, motorists can expect a hassle-free ride on this stretch, which is being executed by PJB Engineering Private Limited.鈥 stated Jayashankar Reddy, Executive Engineer, Road Infrastructure, BBMP.
Previously, this section featured curves and turns, but it is presently being transformed into a single straight highway, allowing cars to reach Gunjur, Sarjapura, and link to Anekal and Electronics City. Traffic cops, who had a difficult time managing traffic on this stretch, may finally breathe a sigh of relief because vehicles are now permitted on one side of the built main highway. "I had recently joined the Whitefield Traffic Police Station and noticed that there were potholes here." However, now that one side of a new carriageway has been open to motorists for the past 15 days, traffic management has become stress-free. Earlier, the vehicles, especially school buses, used to move slowly near the tank bund road, resulting in overall slow movement of traffic. Now this issue has been addressed,鈥 said Shivarajkumar Angadi, Traffic Sub-Inspector, Whitefield Traffic Police Station.
