The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is developing 20 major infrastructure projects worth Rs 4,741 crore, as part of the Strategic Road Development Plan (SRDP).
Four flyovers, which are currently under construction, will open this year to the public, in Kondapur, Shaikpet, Balanagar, Bairamalguda and Owaisi Junction.
An official told the media that the flyover passing Whisper Valley junction and Seven Tombs, LB Nagar, and Bairamalguda flyover would be inaugurated in December this year.
As per the records of the state, GHMC and Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) and the government are currently planning detailed project reports for 12 projects, constituting a total cost of Rs 12,044 crore.
Amid the 20 SRDP works, merely two projects worth Rs 661 crore are stuck due to land acquisition problems. The rest of the projects are under several stages of construction.
GHMC previously started a plan to assure its coffers did not dry up amid construction, including raising a Rs 2,500-crore term loan and floating bonds. To further decrease the expenditure, works were prioritised in five phases and an SRDP design with an approximation of Rs 25,000 crore.
According to reports from the state government, the pandemic has no impact on the current infrastructure, which caused various sectors to incur losses.
Work on infrastructure projects gained traction when the lockdown started, GHMC officials said. They added that as there were no traffic limitations throughout the lockdown, work was executed timely, and various projects were finished before the deadline.
