Rs 100 crore car shed for Pune metro

The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) will reportedly be investing Rs 100 crore in order to obtain 50 acre in Mann and 20 acre in Balewadi � a total area of 70 acre to construct a car shed for the proposed Hinjewadi-Shivajinagar stretch of Pune Metro. According to reports, PMRDA will be fastracking the process of acquisition. The 23.33 km stretch in question is being developed as a PPP project at an estimated cost of Rs 7,947 crore.

The process of acquiring the land will begin once the local farmers and the PMRDA agree on the rates. Several IT companies have also reportedly shown interest in the metro project, including Infosys and Cosmos. As per reports, Infosys has expressed interest in developing one station in Hinjewadi’s vicinity. The new Metro Policy will also aid collaboration, participation and financing in the whole process.
