Construction work on the Agra Metro Rail project remains at an active pace even though the city and its vast rural areas continue to reel under Covid-19 with a startling increase in the number of new cases in the last 20 days. An official said it has been five months since December 7, 2020, when metro construction work in Agra had been launched by the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi. Throughout this entire period, Agra Metro has accomplished multiple milestones and has gained speedy progress during the construction of the metro. The energy has been maintained mainly due to extensive arrangements made for immediate medical attention to the large workforce at the sites. The authority has created a Group of 15 people to work in an organised way while avoiding proximity. Site officials told the media there is a provision for masks, gloves, and face shields. All the workers were informed about the seriousness of the pandemic. There is constant monitoring of health and thermal screening. A nurse and a doctor are also at the site for immediate medical attention of the labourers. In five months, from the 686 piles in total, 400 piles for the 3km elevated section of priority passage from Taj East Gate to Jama Masjid is finished till now. Besides this, from Taj east gate to Fatehabad road, 45 pile caps and 16 piers have also been completed for this section. It is important to note that Agra Metro Project's civil construction work is moving on for the Priority section of the first corridor, running from Taj East Gate to Sikandra. It is a 6km stretch from Taj East Gate to Jama Masjid, which includes a 3 km elevated and 3 km underground section.
