Andhra Pradesh鈥檚 Piduguralla-Savalyapuram rail line set to be launched

The new Piduguralla-Savalyapuram railway line in Andhra Pradesh, which is part of the famous Nadikudi-Srikalahasti project, is now ready to commence operations.
Railway authorities are preparing to launch services now that the commissioner of railway safety (CRS) has given the green light.
The 46 km track between Piduguralla on the Guntur-Secunderabad segment and Savalyapuram on the Guntur-Bengaluru section was recently completed.
This new train line is projected to support industrial growth in the drought-stricken districts of Guntur district's Palnadu region. This line would also be used to operate trains in the event of an emergency.
Gajanan Mallya, the general manager of the South Central Railway (SCR), has chosen to check the stretch on Monday after receiving the CRS permission.
According to sources, after the GM's inspection, the SCR will submit a formal request to the railway board for clearance to commence passenger/goods services.
R Mohan Raja, the Guntur divisional railway manager (DRM), inspected the new line and prepared the ground for the GM's inspection.
According to a senior official, the Commissioner of Railway Safety has given authorization to run trains at 80 kmph on a trial basis. After the trial run, the speed restriction will be increased as well.
SCR officials are considering using a new line to reroute freight movement services between Bengaluru and Secunderabad.
The media has reported that the new stretch will benefit cement factories in the Rayalaseema region as well as Palnadu in the Guntur district.
The center is focused on completing the works, while railway engineering officials are tracking the progress of the other packages that make up the overall project.
