Indian Railways inaugurates first pod hotel at Mumbai Central

The Indian Railways first pod hotel was inaugurated at Mumbai Central railway station yesterday. Travellers looking for a comfortable stay after the train journey can check-in in the pod hotel.

The pod hotel will be available for all the passengers for 12 and 24 hours at the cost of Rs 999 and Rs 1,999 respectively. Also, a private pod for 12 and 24 hours is priced at Rs 1,249 and Rs 2,499 respectively.

Providing affordable overnight accommodation, the pod hotel has a number of small bed-sized capsules. The hotel has been built on the first floor of the station building at Mumbai Central.

It has 48 capsule-like rooms, including classic pods, private pods and separate pods for women. It will also have separate beds for differently-abled people. The hotel will have free Wi-Fi, washrooms, luggage and shower rooms in the common area of the hotel. The passengers also have a television, charging points and a reading light inside the pods. Reportedly, Rao Saheb Danve, Minister of State for Railways, is expected to inaugurate the pod hotel.
