NHSRCL acquires 33% land in Maharashtra for bullet train project

The National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) has acquired 33% of the land for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train corridor project.

According to a senior official of NHSRCL, land acquisition is going on in Maharashtra, and the corporation is expecting to speed up the process of land acquisition in the coming months for the project.

NHSRCL has undertaken the construction of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project and has acquired 30% of land in the state.

To push the land acquisition process, the Ministry of State for Railways, Raosaheb Danve, visited Mumbai with other senior officials from NHSRCL, Western Railway, collectors of Thane, Palghar and Raigad, and the state government officials. He asked the officials to increase the speed of the process of land acquisition.

The work for the high-speed bullet train project started in Gujarat, and phase 1 between Surat and Bilimora is expected to begin by 2026.

The overall route is 508.17 km of the bullet train, which includes 155.76 km is in Maharashtra, 384.04 km in Gujarat and 4.3 km in Dadra and Nagar Haveli.

The high-speed rail corridor project is estimated to cost about Rs 1.10 lakh crore, out of which Rs 88,000 crore will be funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
