Patna Metro: L&T bags contract for underground section

Construction major Larsen and Toubro (L&T) has won a contract worth Rs 1,989 crore for Patna Metro鈥檚 underground section.
Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) started financial bids for Metro package Patna PC-OR in which L&T appeared to be the lowest bidder for this contract by bidding Rs 1,989crore.
This contract work consists of the construction of twin tunnels by TBM linking the underground Ramp at Rajendra Nagar with Patna Junction Railway Station passing by six underground stations for a section of nearly 8 km in length.
Out of the two packages, it is the second and final package for Line-2 under Phase-1 of Patna Metro, including the first package (Package PC-01), which is currently under construction, the contract for which was granted to NCC.
The six stations for this section to be constructed are 鈥� Rajendra Nagar, Moin Ul Haq Stadium, University, PMCH, Gandhi Maidan and Akashvani.
It also consists of architectural finishing, water supply and additional works on New ISBT to Patna Station.
DMRC invited bids for this package in September 2020, with the price of Rs 1958.81 crore and a completion time of 42 months.
Technical bids were opened in January 2021, which reported the names of four bidders.
Afterwards, all four qualified and the technical evaluation round and financial bids of each of the four bidders were opened yesterday.
According to the price of the bid, L&T is very close to the estimated cost of DMRC for this contract.
It is highly expected that the contract would be awarded to L&T in the upcoming weeks.
