The authorities responsible for designing the route plan for the city's metrolite service have expedited their work and are in the concluding phase of finalising the project's blueprint. In relation to the ambitious project, the metrolite system is set to operate on two major routes, establishing a connection throughout the entire city. For this intention, the train will be active along two corridors that will link opposite ends of the city. At least one of these two corridors is scheduled for launch before Maha Kumbh 2025. The combined length of these two corridors will be approximately 44 km. Along this route, approximately 39 metro stations are slated for construction. According to the initial planning, the authorities are considering the option of running the metrolite along the corridor extending from Bamrauli (towards the western side) to Jhunsi (located in the eastern part of the city, crossing the Ganga River). The span of this route is roughly 23 km. Subsequently, in the second phase, the construction of the second corridor, spanning from Shantipuram to Cheoki, will take place. This route will have an estimated length of 21 km. Both of these operational routes for the metrolite have been designed with the aim of optimising public transportation to the fullest extent. Diligent efforts are being exerted to complete this endeavour prior to the commencement of Maha Kumbh. Once it becomes functional, this initiative will alleviate the traffic congestion on the city streets. Arvind Kumar Chauhan, the Vice-Chairman of the Prayagraj Development Authority (PDA), expressed, Concerted efforts are being directed towards providing state-of-the-art metrolite services to the commuters of Sangam City, as this provision will significantly alleviate traffic in the Civil Lines and Katra areas. Furthermore, there will be stations at prominent intervals along the metrolite's route, situated at approximately every kilometre of the established path, he added.
