Cochin Port Trust to undertake modernisation

Cochin Port Trust plans to under modernisation of coal handling facility at the port on a design, build, finance, operate and transfer basis for a licence period of 30 years. The cost of this project is estimated at Rs 198 crore. The port has handled around 50,000 tonne of coal during April to May 2014 at the North and South coal berths at the Mattanchery wharf. I has invited request for qualification to undertake the modernisation project. The proposed new facility will have a capacity of 4.23 mn tonne per annum and berth will be 300-m wide for mechanised coal handling.
