Prayagraj ranks 11th in the Smart City ranking

While Prayagraj has been observing development work under the Smart City Project, adding to its beauty, the speed and quality of execution have resulted in hauling the city to the 11th rank among the 100 smart cities of the country in terms of development being done under Smart City.
The Ministry of Urban Development and Housing released the ranking of 100 Smart Cities in the nation on Tuesday. According to the list of March 2021, Prayagraj was in 15th position whereas, in the list released in March 2022, the city has enhanced its ranking and now is at 11th place.
As per the list, five cities of the state - Varanasi, Agra, Lucknow, Prayagraj and Kanpur - have found mention in the leading 20 cities. Moreover, Varanasi, with 118.44 points has secured third place overall in the nation. Agra is at number 4 with 115.90 points for taking up development work under the project to make the city smart.
Among other cities in the state, Lucknow is at 10th rank with 92.32 points, followed by Prayagraj at 11th position with 91.23 points. Kanpur stands at 15th place with 86.60 points. There are 10 cities in the state which come under the ambit of the Smart City Project.
This ranking is done by the Central government for the 100 cities of the nation chosen for smart cities. This ranking is determined by the Central ministry based on the report of development work being taken up by the respective cities.
While reviewing the progress of work being taken up for Smart City, the authorities appreciated the development being done in Agra, Varanasi, Lucknow and Prayagraj and praised the fund usage in these cities. As per the list of top 15 cities, Bhopal is at number 1 position, Indore 2nd followed by Agra, Varanasi, Udaipur, Surat, Pune, Tamakuru, Kota, Lucknow, Prayagraj, Ranchi, Salem, Ajmer and Kanpur.
