Udaipur secures third position in list of smart cities

Currently, Udaipur stands in the third position in the list of smart cities having completed 85% of smart city projects. The Center on Friday issued a ranking of the top 100 smart cities in India.The city was in fifth position last year.

The first two spots have been secured by Bhopal and Indore.

Kota and Ajmer are in the eighth and ninth positions respectively. Whereas, Jaipur is in the 44th position. The Udaipur smart city project officials are confident regarding the city being on the top of the list by mid-March by successful completion of 90% of projects.

Rs 1,221 crore had been sanctioned for the Udaipur city for the completion of 93 projects under the smart city project.

As of now, Rs 920.32 crore has been allotted, while 79 projects of Rs 550 crore are already completed.

Additional CEO Smart City Pradeep Sanagwat said that the projects in the Walled City can be completed within a month.

Having completed 90% of projects, Udaipur city will receive additional 15 points which will pave the way for the city to be on top of the list.

A total of Rs 800 crore has been contributed to completing the smart city projects in Udaipur city.The central government has contributed Rs 500 crore and the remaining Rs 300 crore is contributed by the state government.The UIT of Udaipur will contribute Rs 70 crore and the Nagar Nigam will contribute Rs 51 crore.
