Gurugram to be set up meters to check sewage flow at STPs

The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) is planning to install ultrasonic flow meters at all sewage treatment plants along with CCTV cameras to monitor flow of raw sewage. The step is being taken to ensure proper wastewater management in the city.

According to GMDA officials, these ultrasonic flow meters will be installed at all existing STPs, including Behrampur and Dhanwapur, along with common effluent treatment plant at Manesar. These will be connected with GMDA?s integrated command centre for real-time monitoring and the data will also be shared with CPCB and HSPCB. At present, online monitoring devices (OMD) and flow meters have been installed at the outlets of existing STPs, following an directive by NGT. In October, the matter was also discussed in a meeting headed by HSPCB chairman P Raghavendra Rao and it was decided that the OMD and flow meter will be installed by March 2024.

?While the online analysers have been installed at outlets point of the STPs, we are also planning to install ultrasonic flow meters at the inlet and bypass of the STPs and CETP for better monitoring of the functioning of treatment plants,? a GMDA official said.
