Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla has inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for multiple development projects totalling Rs 1.05 billion in the Kota region, according to an official statement. The projects aim to boost infrastructure, enhance connectivity, and support communities affected by natural disasters.
Key among the initiatives is the construction of a high-level bridge over the Kali Sindh River in Budhadit-Barod, Sultanpur. Alongside this, a range of infrastructure improvements鈥攊ncluding new cemented roads, classroom facilities, and rural development works鈥攚ere inaugurated to accelerate local progress.
Speaking at the event, Birla, who represents Kota-Bundi in Parliament, announced that the central government has approved 3,000 homes under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) for families impacted by a recent hailstorm. 鈥淚 witnessed the pain of these families, and we have resolved to rebuild their broken dreams,鈥� he said. He noted that this marks the first time the central government has amended rules on humanitarian grounds to offer relief after a natural calamity, with an updated list being prepared for remaining affected families.
Birla also highlighted approval of a Rs 570 million cemented road project linking Sultanpur to Neemoda-Ujad. Additionally, progress on the Mandawar to Roteda road project has been fast-tracked following wildlife clearance.
Efforts are also underway to enhance irrigation in the region, with water from the Chambal River set to benefit 4,000 hectares of agricultural land. 鈥淭his will enable farmers to move beyond traditional crops and explore horticulture and fruit production,鈥� Birla said.
Further, under the 'Har Ghar Nal Se Jal' scheme, work continues to ensure every household in the area receives access to clean drinking water, strengthening the government's commitment to rural welfare and basic amenities.
