In a major step towards modernising urban redevelopment in Mumbai, the Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) has implemented the SoftTech AutoDCR Online Building Permission System. The digital rollout aims to enhance transparency, reduce manual interventions, and speed up project approvals in the city鈥檚 slum rehabilitation efforts.聽
Developed by SoftTech Engineers, a company focused on technology solutions for the Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) industry, AutoDCR automates the scrutiny and approval of building plans. By enabling developers to submit proposals online, it replaces traditionally manual and paper-intensive processes.聽
The automation is expected to improve regulatory compliance and create a seamless, time-efficient approval experience for stakeholders involved in slum redevelopment projects.聽
鈥淭his launch is not just about digitising a process 鈥 it鈥檚 about redefining how cities can respond to the needs of their most vulnerable communities with speed, clarity, and accountability. We鈥檙e committed to building tools that don鈥檛 just automate, but actually empower better decisions and outcomes on the ground,鈥 said Vijay Gupta, MD & CEO, SoftTech Engineers.聽
The initiative is aligned with SRA鈥檚 vision of integrating advanced digital solutions into urban governance. Transitioning to a completely online approval system is expected to enhance ease of doing business in the construction sector, while fostering a more transparent and accountable regulatory framework. In the context of slum rehabilitation, timely approvals play a vital role in ensuring improved living conditions for thousands of residents.聽
