Adani Commissions India’s First 5 MW Off-Grid Green Hydrogen Plant

Adani New Industries (ANIL) has announced the commissioning of India’s first off-grid 5 MW Green Hydrogen Pilot Plant at Kutch, Gujarat, marking a key advancement in the country’s clean energy transition.

The state-of-the-art facility is fully powered by solar energy and integrated with a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), enabling uninterrupted off-grid operations. This development sets a new standard in decentralised, renewable-powered hydrogen generation and industrial applications.

The pilot project features a fully automated, closed-loop electrolyser system, capable of dynamically responding to real-time fluctuations in solar power. This enhances operational flexibility while ensuring high levels of efficiency, safety, and performance.

This initiative strengthens the Adani Group’s commitment to innovation and sustainability in the emerging green hydrogen economy and supports India’s ambition to become a global leader in green hydrogen production.

The pilot facility also serves as a proof of concept for ANIL’s forthcoming Green Hydrogen Hub in Mundra, Gujarat â€ a key component of India’s low-carbon strategy. Green hydrogen is expected to be pivotal in decarbonising sectors such as fertilisers, refining, and heavy transport, and advancing global net-zero targets.

The project aligns with the National Green Hydrogen Mission (NGHM), a flagship Government of India initiative aimed at reducing import dependence, promoting energy self-sufficiency, and accelerating decarbonisation across high-emission industries. It also reinforces the Atmanirbhar Bharat vision for a sustainable and self-reliant India.
