Amara Raja appoints Nextracker to provide solar trackers for NTPC

NTPC's Nokh solar power plant will get solar trackers from Nextracker, a US-based supplier of sophisticated solar trackers, after the two companies inked a master supply deal.

The 306 MW project will be carried out by the Hyderabad-based power company Amara Raja as a ground-mounted utility-scale power plant stretched over 1,850 hectare in Rajasthan.

Nextracker was selected because of its tracker's bifacial design, which boosts energy gain at utility-scale solar power facilities.

By 2032, NTPC hopes to have around 60 GW of renewable energy capacity, or 50% of its total generation capacity, having increased its investments in renewable energy. The project is anticipated to be operational by October 2023, with the first exports coming in Q1 of 2023.
