Tiemoko Meyliet Koné, vice president of the Ivory Coast, attended the signing ceremony, which coincided with Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week. The concession agreement was signed by Mamadou Sangafowa-Coulibaly, the Ivory Coast's minister of mines, petroleum, and energy, and Hussain Al Nowais, the chairman of AMEA Power. The country's first solar Independent Power Project (IPP) will be located in Bondoukou, a city in the northeastern region of Gontougo, 420 kilometres from Abidjan. The solar project is being fully developed by AMEA Power under a Build-Own-Operate-Transfer (BOOT) model and will generate more than 85GWh of clean energy per year, enough to power approximately 350,000 people. The project's offtaker will be Compagnie Ivoirienne d'Electricité, which is in charge of the country's electrical network. The Government of Ivory Coast intends to increase the share of renewable energy in the country's electricity generation mix to 42% by 2030 as part of its strategic plan. As AMEA Power expands its investments across Africa, we will work in partnership with governments, businesses and local communities to develop projects.� AMEA Power announced in November 2022 that it will build the largest solar plant in West Africa by expanding the 'Mohammed Bin Zayed Solar Power Plant' in Togo from 50MW to 70MW, supported by battery storage to extend the availability of clean energy at night. In addition, the company is nearing completion of a solar project in Burkina Faso and developing a solar project in Mali. AMEA Power's investments in wind, solar, energy storage, and green hydrogen are rapidly expanding, demonstrating the company's long-term commitment to the global energy transition. Over 6GW of clean energy is in the pipeline for the company across 20 countries.
