SunSource Energy, a subsidiary of SHV Energy, has launched a 21 MWp solar power plant in Ramanathapuram, Tamil Nadu, marking its entry into the state. The project covers 50 acre and is expected to generate about 760 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of clean energy, potentially offsetting up to 700 million kilograms of CO2 emissions over its technical lifespan.
The company has formed partnerships with prominent Commercial & Industrial (C&I) businesses to fully utilize the 21 MWp capacity. These clients include significant players from the Oil and Gas, Automotive, Metals and Mining, and FMCG sectors.
Santanu Guha, CEO of SunSource Energy, expressed his satisfaction with the launch of their first plant in Tamil Nadu, noting that the state is a leader in renewable energy in India. He mentioned that this project represents just the beginning of their endeavors in the region. Ajay Sanghi, CEO of SUPERGAS, a partner in the project, emphasised the benefits of the collaboration. He noted that by partnering with SunSource Energy to procure solar power for their Tuticorin Terminal, they not only reduce carbon emissions at the terminal but also enhance cost efficiencies.
SunSource Energy, with a presence in major states across India and a portfolio of 500 MWp solar assets deployed, contracted, and under development, continues to support C&I customers in their energy transition efforts. The company offers solar solutions across a wide range of industry sectors, including data centres, consumer goods, metals and mining, automotive, chemical, cement, healthcare, and pharmaceuticals.
